NEWS FROM THE NOVEMBER PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Christmas lights

The Parish Council is pleased to financially support the Christmas lights. This year promises to be a good event with the switch on taking place on Wednesday 2nd December. There will be a craft event and Santa and his helpers have promised to make an appearance. Come along for a fun family event.

Grant to Wesley's cafe

The Parish Council agreed at this meeting to make a grant to Wesley's to improve the electrical fittings at the cafe. The aim of the new fittings is to save energy and improve efficiency. We look forward to hearing more about this project.

Bradford Council Wardens

Michael Churley the new Ward Co-ordinator for Wharfedale and Baildon came to the meeting to talk to the Parish Council about his role and that of his team. Two new posts of Warden have been created and the Parish Council and its Warden look forward to working with the Wardens for the benefit of Baildon.

 

EXPLORATORY MEETING FOR THE FRIENDS OF BAILDON MOOR

A meeting is to be held on Wednesday 20th May at 7:15pm at Baildon Link to look into the possibility of setting up a Friends of Baildon Moor group. Such groups have been successful in places like St Ives in Bingley and Ilkley.

The aim of the meeting will be to establish interest in the formation of a group and any group set up will be independent of the Parish Council.

At this exploratory meeting there will be people on hand to help and advise from other similar groups and also from Bradford Council.

Baildon Village Pre-School Play Area opening

Baildon Parish Council are committed to helping groups in Baildon and have a small grants scheme that has helped several deserving groups in Baildon. We have also used some of our money to support the Baildon Village Pre-School Group create an outdoor play area. Once the work had been completed the ribbon across the garden area was cut by Matthew Hoggard. Read on to see photos of the event.

News from the February 2009 Parish Council Meeting

Peter Haley

Co-option of Peter Haley

At the February meeting of the Baildon Parish Council Peter Haley was co-opted to represent the Baildon East ward.  Peter who is 71, is married and has two children and grandchildren. Peter wants to make a contribution to preserving Baildon as an attractive and interesting place to work. Peter can be contacted on This email address is being protected from spambots. The other councillor for this ward is Paul Marfell.

Other items of interest

A grant for Baildon Rifle and Pistol Club was agreed to help fund archery equipment that will be used by many Baildon groups.

Baildon History Society had samples of what promises to be excellent details of walks in and around Baildon.

The progress of the Warden was reported at this meeting. Keith North Baildon Parish Council Warden, has been making contacts with local businesses and community groups to identify some of the issues that they would like to see tackling in Baildon. Keith has also spent time patrolling around Baildon and getting to know some of the Bradford Council, Police and other agencies that will be useful in his work.

 

No Increase In Council Precept.

The Parish Council first four year term is now over, and a new council took office in May 2011.Over the four years the precept has been  held at £7.50, the original level as set initially by Bradford Council This gives the Parish Council a budget of just over £46,000 for the year. Out of this money the Parish Council funds all of its administration, staffing costs and ventures that it plans to undertake in the year.

The Parish Council is continuing with its popular Grant scheme, has allocated additional money for the Christmas lights, Baildon In Bloom and a parish celebration. New items for the year include an allocation of funds for some new bins for litter and dog fouling and signage to promote the use of all bins. Money has also been allocated for a Community Handbook.
