Motorcycles and 4 x 4's on Baildon Moor have been a problem over many years, recent closures of recognised sites in the area has resulted in increased activity in and around Baildon Moor and Shipley Glen. It is not only illegal to use motor vehicles in these locations but it is also causing a nuisance and danger to other users of the moors. Quite often the vehicles are used on public roads to get to these locations without the correct insurance or equipment, in some instances stolen vehicles have been used. I have liased with West Yorkshire Police and the Countryside service to try and solve the problem, steps where possible will be taken to prevent people from braking the law in this area. The Police need reliable information as to when and where these incidents are taking place to formulate a plan of action. If you do see a motorcycle or 4 x 4 on the moor or Shipley Glen then contact West Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060606, A popular location for the motorcycles is the old quarry at the far end of Shipley Glen just before the track to Crook Farm Caravan Park.
