At the last Baildon Parish Council meeting held on 10 August at Baildon Link the grant application from the 3rd Baildon Guides was approved. This is to support their celebration of 100 years of Guiding. Not only is it great to be supporting this celebration but it is also great to be supporting the Guides and the young people involved. For many reasons the activities of young people must be supported.
Our Environmental Warden, Keith North, reported favourably on the installation and emptying of our new bins and the Parish Council selected the locations for 5 more bins to target more areas. Please read Keith's Warden Update on the web site here.
Baildon Parish Council are funding the preparation of 11 Heritage Trail booklets from the Baildon Local History Group and the first batch of 6 are in the final stages of preparation. At the meeting examples of 3 of the booklets were shown and they were very well received. All the people involved in producing the booklets should be proud of the work they have done and the Parish Council are pleased to have been able to facilitate this. Look out for the booklets in various outlets in Baildon. A version of the booklets will also be available for download from the document section of the Baildon Parish Council web site here.
The Parish Council discussed the process of getting the Parish Planning Group up and running. The first meeting for getting this group together is on 16 September 2009 in Baildon Link.
The Parish Council are to facilitate an audit of Baildon Moor and we have now agreed to produce a Built Environment Plan. This work, together with the knowledge that Keith North has pulled together about the provision of bins will provide some of the detail for the Parish Plan to build on.
The Parish Council want to encourage environmentally friendly initiatives and will probably be developing plans to fund such things. A Climate Change Conference is planned for 16 November 2009 at Baildon Methodist Church and someone from the Parish Council will attend to say a few words.
The issue of traffic and temporary parking at Baildon schools was discussed as part of the feedback from the Ward Tasking meeting. A new academic year will start soon and a close eye will be kept on the issue. Suggestions as to how to tackle this are welcome.
The Milestone at Tong Park and the Boundary Stone at Gill Beck have now been painted.
This was paid for by the Parish Council. The milestone by the Charlestown allotments will be painted soon.
